Because they are guided tours, not a bike hire. The price covers free hotel transfer to the camp in the hills, the quad, a helmet and safety gear, a guide, water and insurance, plus access to private jungle trails. A scooter rental gives you none of that.
It depends on the operator. Green Mountain, Samui Quad Motor and Samui X-Treme charge a small passenger add-on, from about ฿900 to ฿1,000 on a short tour, which is the cheapest way for two to ride. Jungle Quad, X-Quad, Trail Blazers and Orange Wave instead price a two-seat quad, so a driver plus passenger for 2 hours runs ฿3,200 to ฿3,800.
Per person. Each rider on their own quad pays the solo price. A passenger sharing one quad is priced separately, either as a cheap add-on seat or as part of a two-seat machine price, depending on the operator.
You pay the operator on the day of the tour, usually in cash. Some accept cards, and one or two add a small card fee. Booking direct means you pay the operator's own rate with no hotel desk or OTA commission on top.
