Ride a fully automatic quad off the north coast of Koh Samui with Samui Quad Motor, one of the island's original ATV operators, based at Maenam Soi 1. By their own account they were the first ATV tour company in Thailand, and the track shows it: a proper off-road network that climbs from coconut and rubber plantations up into the mountains behind Maenam, past a seasonal waterfall and a viewpoint over the coast toward Koh Phangan. Every ride starts the same way. You are collected from your hotel, gear up with a helmet at the camp, get a safety briefing and a little practice on the automatic quad, then a local guide leads the group out onto the trails. No driving licence is needed.
Pickup from your hotel or villa
We collect you from your hotel, villa or meeting point across Koh Samui. Morning tours pick up around 09:30 to 10:00 and afternoon tours around 14:00 to 14:30, with the exact time depending on where you stay. Be waiting in your lobby on time, as the driver can only wait a few minutes. Prefer to come by yourself? You can also make your own way to the Samui Quad Motor camp on Maenam Soi 1.
At the camp you meet your guide, put on a helmet and get a safety briefing with a little practice on the fully automatic quad. There are no gears to change and no driving licence is needed. It is a real off-road track, so the guide takes the time to make sure you are comfortable before you set off.
The group rides out together onto the off-road network, through coconut groves and rubber plantations before the tracks begin to climb into the hills behind Maenam.
The 1-hour ride is a shorter loop on the trails closest to camp, enough to feel the terrain and the first climbs without the full mountain run. A quick taste of the off-road.
We ride back down the trails to the camp and drop off the quads, and the driver takes you back to your hotel or villa.
Prefer to make your own way there? You can skip the pickup and meet us directly at the start point.
We'll share the exact meeting point and a map link in your booking confirmation.
Drive to the entrance of the ATV camp. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tour start time.
A genuine guided off-road ride rather than a race, on a track that climbs into the mountains behind Maenam. The quads are fully automatic with no gears, and no driving licence is needed. Expect dust in the dry season and mud after rain, jungle trails through coconut and rubber plantations, a viewpoint over the north coast, and on the 2 hour safari a seasonal waterfall and a halfway break at a jungle bar for a refreshing drink. Exact stops can vary with the time of day, the season and the group's riding skill, so the guides pick the best route on the day.
From 1,800 THB for the 1 hour ride driving your own quad, or 2,800 THB for the 2 hour safari. A passenger sharing your quad is 900 THB more on the 1 hour and 1,400 THB more on the 2 hour. Prices are per person and include hotel transfer. Checked July 2026.
No licence is needed. The quads are fully automatic and every tour starts with a safety briefing and a little practice before you head onto the trails. It is a real off-road track, so the guides take the time to make sure you are comfortable first.
Children ride as passengers from age 5. Drivers can take their own quad from age 12 after a short ability test at the base.
The 1 hour ride is a shorter loop on the trails near camp, a quick taste of the off-road. The 2 hour safari climbs higher for a mountain viewpoint and a seasonal waterfall, with a halfway break at the Tree Bridge jungle cafe where you can add a zipline.
Yes. Every quad seats a driver plus one passenger, and the passenger pays roughly half the driver price. Samui Quad Motor also lets one child under 12 ride free as a passenger when sharing with a paying adult driver: book the driver seat and mention the child in your booking notes and we will arrange it.
Yes, with the briefing and a patient guide, but it is a genuine off-road ride with real climbs rather than a flat garden loop. If you have never ridden before, tell the guide at the practice so they can keep the pace comfortable.
Yes, from hotels across Koh Samui. Morning tours pick up around 09:30 to 10:00 and afternoon tours around 14:00 to 14:30. Be in your lobby on time, as the driver can only wait a few minutes.
The ride is not suitable for pregnant travellers, people with back problems, or anyone with heart problems or other serious medical conditions. The tour is not wheelchair accessible. Children under 5 cannot join even as passengers, and alcohol before or during the ride is not allowed. If you feel uncomfortable at any point on the trail, ask the guide for help rather than push on: this is a leisure ride for all levels and the guides put safety over speed.
Yes, tours operate in all weather conditions, so dress accordingly. After rain the track turns muddy, which most riders consider the best version of it. Bring a light rain jacket in the wet season and a change of clothes for after the ride.
You can book up to 16 riders in one booking, so the tour works for large families and groups. Your booking is confirmed at the time of booking, and hotel pickups start roughly 30 to 60 minutes before the tour time depending on where you stay.
Yes. Each ATV has a combined weight limit of 140 kg and carries a maximum of two people, so the driver and passenger together should weigh no more than 140 kg. If your pair is close to that limit it is better to take a quad each. If you are not sure, message us before you book and we will help.
Super fun. Good mix of technical and flat terrain. Even more fun if you've driven a quad bike before. We paid £62 approx for 1 hour (2 people on one quad) through Get Your Guide, which included pick up and drop off from our hotel. We ended up having one guide take just us around, so private tour essentially. Bit of advice: if there's a dip, try and straddle it, so both wheels are either side of the dip, and that way the quad stays mostly flat
I booked the full two hours for like 70$ and it was absolutely worth it. It was a real experience and a lot of fun. Through the jungle and across rivers – it was a true adventure! It's important to note that the route is very steep and bumpy in places. This makes the ride challenging. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for inexperienced riders or children.
In 2023 we booked a 2-hour Jungle ATV tour and we had the best time of our lives on Koh Samui! We are coming back in 2025! The ATVs were fun and easy to operate, the jungle was amazing, we saw snakes, and went through rivers! This company is professional and good!
We booked a one-hour tour for our family of four—my wife, our two children (aged 7 and 9), and myself—and it was an absolute blast! The quads were thoroughly explained beforehand, ensuring we felt comfortable and confident. Our group was accompanied by four guides who were not only professional but also genuinely passionate about what they do. The route was diverse and incredibly cool, offering a mix of terrains that kept things exciting. A huge thank you to the team for this unforgettable experience. We wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone and hope you continue delivering such fantastic adventures!
This was a great experience while on Koh Samui. Also one of the few adventures available while it was raining. The rain made it even better so don’t pass it up if a storm pops up. The guides were great and took people as fast or as slow as they wanted. Beautiful views and a waterfall, definitely check it out!
