How to Book an ATV Tour on Koh Samui

Five steps, all online:

1. Pick a park. Put all 8 parks side by side on the comparison page, or browse each park's own page. Price, tour lengths, base area and Google rating are all visible before you click anything.
2. Choose your trip length. Tours run 1 to 4 hours. One hour is a taster, 2 hours is the most popular pick, and the 3 and 4 hour tours go deeper into the hills with waterfall and viewpoint stops. Our price guide shows what each length costs.
3. Select your vehicle. A single quad for one rider, a double quad for a rider plus a passenger, or a buggy where the park offers one.
4. Set riders and passengers. Count everyone in your group: who wants to drive, and who rides behind. The price updates as you change the numbers.
5. Pick your date and check out. Choose the date and start time and pay online. For private tours and groups of 4 or more, a deposit is taken at checkout to hold the vehicles.

Every person on the tour is either a rider or a passenger, and the booking form asks for both numbers:

• Riders drive their own machine. No driving licence is needed because the tours run on private trails with a guide, but riders must meet the park's minimum age. See the age limits guide.
• Passengers sit behind a rider on a double quad. This is how kids and nervous first timers usually join. A passenger costs less than a second quad.
• Buggies seat two to four people side by side and are priced as their own vehicle. Not every park runs them, so check the park's page.

Not sure what to pick? Two adults who both want to drive need two single quads. A couple where one person would rather enjoy the view needs one double quad. A family of four with two kids usually books two double quads.

Two kinds of booking pay a deposit at checkout:

• Private tours. The park reserves guides and machines just for your group, so a deposit confirms the booking.
• Groups of 4 or more. Larger groups take a real share of a park's fleet, so a deposit holds the vehicles for your date.

Smaller bookings are confirmed online without a deposit. Either way the cancellation rule is the same: every tour booked through this site can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before the start, deposits included. If the weather turns or your plans change, cancel or move the booking the day before at no cost.

You get a confirmation by email with your tour details, the meeting point and the pickup arrangement. Most parks offer hotel pickup, and coverage depends on where you stay, so check the transfer detail on the tour page when you book. • December to March: book 2 to 3 days ahead. Double quads and buggies sell out first, and the Christmas and New Year week fills earliest.
• The rest of the year: a day ahead is usually enough, and same day booking often works outside the peak weeks.
